I am a freelance translator from English to Spanish based in Miami, Florida and specializing in Christian literature, medical, healthcare, and other literary-related books. I have been a freelance translator since 1990, after receiving my M.A. in Translation Studies from the Monterey Institute of International Studies.  For almost 20 years, I have been in the market offering translation services.

Crossing cultural barriers is a top priority in today’s communication era.  There are 21 countries in the world that have Spanish as their official language in four different continents. According to the 2009 edition of "Ethnologue: Languages of the World", 329 million people today speak Spanish as a native language (more native speakers than English), making it the world's second most spoken language in terms of native speakers. As per the 2008 revision of the Population Division of the Department of Economics and Social Affairs of the United Nations, Mexico contains the largest population of Spanish speakers. Spanish is also one of the six official languages of the United Nations.

One of the interesting facts about the Spanish language in different countries is that the local influences in each of these regions are strong enough to have caused their cultures to evolve distinctively. What is "Spanish" in one place, could mean something totally different from what is "Spanish" in another.

Matices acknowledges and respects these cultural diversities in the Spanish language that so enrich and enhance our societies and ways of life.  The utmost care is used to thoughtfully transfer ideas and a message depending on the particular culture to which it is targeted or from which it originates.
